The Atlantic and Gulf Snook have been determined to be genetically
different. Growth pressures are heavier on the Gulf side and the state has
enacted differing possession limits for snook depending on section. The
Atlantic section is all areas north and east of the Monroe - Dade county
line. Monroe county, The Everglades, and all Gulf waters constitute the
Gulf section.
**
NE The northeast waters are all waters north of the
Flagler/Volusia County line on the Atlantic. NW The northwest waters are
all waters north of the Pasco/Pinellas County line on the Gulf. S The
south waters are the Gulf and Atlantic waters south of the above lines.
